Against the Current is a meditation on water and life. Participants disrupt the surface as they as dip their fingers into the digital current, which flows around them to create intricate vortices and give the piece its visual form.
Sometimes this interaction feels effortless, as users create swirls that span the canvas and create beautiful, multi-scale structures. At other times users may struggle to create persistent forms, as the current modulates its direction and intensity, reflecting the ever-changing social context each of us exists in.
Programmed in TouchDesigner, using a network of LiDAR sensors to achieve robust and precise tactile interaction.
