Pollination builds on Heckaman's work Still, Life by continuing to explore how technology mediates and eventually dictates how humans interact with their environment.
This series of scans were captured around San Francisco, California in early 2025, just as spring was in full bloom and bees flitted about on every corner while passersby spent more time on their phones than looking at the beautiful surroundings.
By recreating the flowers and plants that caught his eye, Heckaman both forces his own attention to meditate on the natural beauty of the landscape while subtely reminding viewers to do the same.
